Paving the Way for Smoother Travel This Construction Season

With the warmer weather comes construction season — and this year is no exception. Crews across Winnipeg will be working hard to repair and upgrade nearly 150 lane kilometres of roads, bridges, and active transportation routes.
Getting Around During Construction
We all know construction can be a hassle, but it’s essential work that helps keep our roads safe and our city moving. Whether you’re biking, driving, or walking, there’s a good chance you’ll see signs, cones, and crews out in full force.
This year, major work is happening in areas like:
- McGregor Street from McAdam to Church
- Dugald Road between Plessis and Ravenhurst
- Inkster Boulevard from Aikins to Landsdowne
- Westbound Abinojii Mikanah from St. Anne’s to River Road
These upgrades are about improving your daily commute, reducing long-term maintenance costs, and making our city’s infrastructure more reliable.
Bridge Work Underway
We’re also investing in our bridges:
- Ongoing rehabilitation of the Pembina Highway Bridges over the La Salle River
- New work starting on the Pembina Overpass at Abinojii Mikanah
- Interim repairs on the Louise Bridge this summer, with the Midtown Bridge work kicking off in the fall
