Get Moving on June 7: Free Access to City Pools and Recreation Facilities for National Health and Fitness Day
On Saturday, June 7, residents across Winnipeg are invited to take part in National Health and Fitness Day with free access to all City-run pools and recreation centres during regular operating hours.
This is a great opportunity to explore our local facilities, try something new, and make physical activity part of your weekend plans — whether that means getting in some laps at your nearest pool, using the indoor walking track, or lifting weights at a local fitness centre.
No pre-registration is required, but public entry requirements and capacity restrictions will still apply. Just bring yourself (and maybe a friend or neighbour) and enjoy what your local community space has to offer.
National Health and Fitness Day is recognized across Canada on the first Saturday in June. It’s about encouraging Canadians to get moving and make healthy choices through accessible and inclusive opportunities. This initiative was formalized with the passing of the National Health and Fitness Act in 2014.
In addition to this special day, the City of Winnipeg continues to support health and wellness through regular free swim times and Loonie/Toonie swims available year-round at various facilities. These programs are designed to help make fitness more affordable for families and residents throughout the city.
Let’s take this opportunity to celebrate health, movement, and community together. I hope to see many of you out enjoying our wonderful city facilities on June 7.
