I want to share how the City of Winnipeg is stepping up in partnership with the Province of Manitoba and the Canadian Red Cross to offer safe shelter, support services, and essential amenities to evacuees arriving in our city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Latest on Wildfires and Evacuation Notices<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To stay informed on current wildfire conditions and evacuation orders:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the <a>Manitoba Wildfire Service page<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check <a>Environment Canada\u2019s Winnipeg forecast and air quality<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit the City of Winnipeg\u2019s <a>Wildfire Evacuations page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please also keep an eye on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a>Provincial Burn Conditions<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a>City of Winnipeg Fire Ban Notices<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> City Facilities Supporting Evacuees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Several City-run and affiliated facilities are being used as reception centres and temporary shelters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Billy Mosienko Arena<\/strong> \u2013 709 Keewatin St.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eric Coy Arena<\/strong> \u2013 535 Oakdale Dr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Century Arena<\/strong> \u2013 1377 Clarence Ave.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Winnipeg Soccer Federation North<\/strong> \u2013 770 Leila Ave. (city-owned but operated by WSF)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All programming and rentals at these locations are currently suspended. User groups will be contacted directly. If you have any questions, please call 311.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evacuees are asked to go to <strong>Billy Mosienko Arena<\/strong> for reception centre services if they do not have family or friends to stay with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Canadian Red Cross Registration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Registering with the Red Cross is important. It ensures that you can receive updates, access available supports, and be located by loved ones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.redcross.ca\/\">Register online at redcross.ca<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or call toll-free: <strong>1-800-863-6582<\/strong>, available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> City Services &amp; Free Amenities for Evacuees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Winnipeg has several public resources available for evacuees:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hydration &amp; Heat Relief<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hydration stations and shaded spaces are available throughout the city during extreme heat events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn more about <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.winnipeg.ca\/services-programs\/emergency-public-safety\/injury-illness-prevention\/heat-relief\">heat relief in Winnipeg<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spray Pads and Recreation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All <a>outdoor spray pads<\/a> are open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and are free to use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free and low-cost leisure programs can be found in the <a>Priceless Fun brochure<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transit and Mobility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Information on how to ride Winnipeg Transit can be found <a>here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Libraries and Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Winnipeg Public Libraries offer free internet access. Ask staff for a <strong>VIP (Visitor Internet Privilege) card<\/strong> for 14-day access.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re also welcome to browse, read, and spend time in our <a>20 public libraries<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parks and Green Spaces<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enjoy Winnipeg\u2019s <a>parks and trails<\/a>, which offer walking paths, playgrounds, and off-leash dog areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Health Services and Emergency Support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you require emergency assistance, <strong>call 9-1-1<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For non-emergency health questions, call <strong>Health Links \u2013 Info Sant\u00e9<\/strong> at 204-788-8200 or toll-free 1-888-315-9257 (available 24\/7)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These numbers can also help locate family members relocated from health centres or care homes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>As your city councillor, I want to thank everyone involved in this coordinated response\u2014from our City teams to volunteers and neighbours who\u2019ve opened their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To those who\u2019ve been displaced: Winnipeg is here to support you.
