This is the first major overhaul of the system in decades, and it reflects years of planning, consultation, and public feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s Changing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the heart of this new network is a <strong>\u201cspine-and-feeder\u201d model<\/strong>, designed to improve frequency, reliability, and travel times:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Frequent Transit Routes (Spines)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These are high-frequency corridors where buses run every 5\u201315 minutes during peak times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They form the backbone of the system, connecting major destinations across the city like downtown, post-secondary campuses, hospitals, and shopping centres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Local and Feeder Routes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These connect residential neighbourhoods to the frequent transit lines, improving coverage and reducing long wait times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>On-Demand Service<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Some lower-density areas will now have flexible, <strong>on-demand rides<\/strong> that you can book to connect with the main network\u2014a new approach to meet community needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plan Your Trip<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To help you navigate the new system, Winnipeg Transit has updated several tools and apps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Navigo Trip Planner<\/strong> (desktop &amp; mobile): <a>https:\/\/winnipegtransit.com\/en\/navigo<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Winnipeg Transit App for iOS<\/strong>: <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/ca\/app\/winnipeg-transit\/id1158642624\">App Store \u2013 Winnipeg Transit<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Winnipeg Transit App for Android<\/strong>: <a>Google Play \u2013 Winnipeg Transit<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Real-time info by text<\/strong>: Text your stop number to <strong>287898<\/strong> to get real-time arrivals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Call 311<\/strong> for help or to speak with a representative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What This Means for You<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new system brings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>More frequent service<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simplified routes and better connections<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extended service during evenings and weekends<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Easier transfers between neighbourhoods and destinations<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Let\u2019s Keep Moving Forward<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a major step in modernizing our city\u2019s public transportation and preparing for the future.
