Reading Your water meter on a<br>regular basis helps you know if there are any undetected leaks.<br>With an increase in are water rates people are always looking for ways to save money around the house.<br>Taking the time to check your to see if you have any leaks will help to insure you are not paying for<br>water you are not using, that could save you money on your water bill. <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.winnipeg.ca\/waterandwaste\/water\/conservation\/fixLeakWeek\/default.stm\">check for water leaks in their<br>home.<\/a><br>A small leak can really add up on your water bill. For example, a leak only half the size of a pencil eraser<br>can cost $15 per day. If it isn&#8217;t fixed within a year, that water leak can cost more than $5,000.<br>Toilet troubles can really add up. Worn-out flapper valve are a usual culprit. The rubber valve wears out<br>over time and should be replaced approximately every five years.<br>You can test your toilet by adding a few drops of food colouring into your toilet tank, and wait 15<br>minutes. If the water in the toilet bowl has changed colour in that time, your toilet has a leak.<br>Make sure you look for other leaks like dripping faucets and pipe fittings. Water on the outside of a pipe<br>can indicate that the pipe has sprung a leak.<br>Another way to see if you have an issue is to turn off any water-using appliances and taps in your home<br>and then take a water meter reading. Don\u2019t use any water for two hours and take another meter<br>reading.
