The Winnipeg Public Library is making it easier than ever to build those skills with free computer workshops and one-on-one e-Media appointments.
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I understood this better,” this is your sign to register.
Free, Hands-On Computer Workshops
Each workshop is two hours, hands-on, and designed to help you build practical skills you can use right away. Space is limited and registration is required.
These sessions are welcoming, beginner-friendly, and structured to support independent learning moving forward.
Computer Basics
- Introduction to the Computer
Learn how to turn a computer on and off, use a mouse, navigate Windows, and open and close programs. - File Management
Understand how to organize files, use external storage devices, and keep your information structured. (Basic skills required.) - Email Basics
Learn to receive, reply, format, and send emails confidently. (Basic skills required.) - Internet Basics
Explore how to use a browser, search engines like Google, and navigate websites safely. (Basic skills required.) - Google Drive
Store, organize, and share files using Google Drive. (Basic skills required.)
Word Processing Workshops
Build your Microsoft Word skills step-by-step:
- Word Level 1 – Editing and formatting text, opening and saving documents.
- Word Level 2 – Lists, pictures, indenting, and page layout. (Prerequisite: Level 1)
- Word Level 3 – Tables, tabs, and advanced formatting. (Prerequisite: Level 2)
Excel Workshops
Gain practical spreadsheet skills:
- Excel Level 1 – Basic layouts, formatting, and simple math for budgeting.
- Excel Level 2 – Functions like MIN, MAX, AVERAGE, IF statements, and charts. (Prerequisite: Level 1)
- Excel Level 3 – Conditional formatting, sorting, filters, and VLOOKUPS. (Prerequisite: Level 2)
e-Media Help – One-on-One Appointments
